The project “NOS-CAT: Strengthening the use of the Catalan language and community participation among migrants in Barcelona”, funded by the Department of Language Policy of the Generalitat de Catalunya, aims to promote the everyday use of Catalan among migrants living in Barcelona.
The programme seeks to strengthen linguistic, social, and cultural inclusion through a participatory and intercultural approach. The main actions carried out include:
– Linguistic visibility actions aimed at raising awareness about the importance of using Catalan in public and community spaces. – Catalan conversation groups focused on improving the linguistic and communicative skills of participants through conversations on topics of common interest. – Development of linguistic visibility materials to make information on key topics more accessible and easier to understand. – Sociocultural immersion activities within the neighbourhood, facilitating knowledge of the local environment and interaction with the local community.
